One week old today!

Hungry hungry hippos!

I jokingly call baby Weims "house hippos" cause that's kind of what they look like as babies :) I think it's especially fitting with this group, they are definitely hungry, hungry house hippos!! Mama Ali is an angel, sweet girl!  No wonder everyone is gaining so quickly :)

Fatlets

They are growing by leaps and bounds! White boy is by far the biggest, still today after almost losing his crown to green boy yesterday :) meanwhile black is super snuggly with mama.

Lap of luxury

Babies are learning what it is to enjoy the finer things in life, like a plush dog bed and some quality snuggle time :) don't worry we'll be sure to train them all how to sleep under the covers before they go home! 😋

Good morning

Babies send their love this Sunday morning, lazy and sleeping in :) Everyone is gaining weight, in spite of the tail docking, which is really good! White still is the biggest at this point with Green nipping at his heels :) all babies are doing well! 

Weimarized!

Here are a few pups at the milk bar. They did well getting tails docked and dew claws removed. Vet shaves tails as he feels it causes less infection.... Works for us! :) didn't slow them down at all, tails are all still up and happy as clams!

Puppy video

Pups are gaining and doing well :) here they are milk drunk and doing their puppy twitching :) So Cute! Later today they have their tails done and then back home for lots of snuggles and kisses.

Puppy monsters

Fat little monsters are doing well, last day with their tails, so hopefully they are enjoying them and won't miss them too much!  

We changed Green boy to a darker green since we didn't use both colors of green colors that we had and same with Pink!

Everyone is gaining

Everyone is gaining and doing well. We supplemented Green and Pink who were our smallest, now both are pretty much among the largest :) All are doing well, tomorrow is tail docking and dew claw removal. Then they will be real, little Weimaraners!!

We're done!

We finished with 9 puppies, 3 girls and 6 boys! That should be exactly the split we needed to get everyone their preferred sex, how's that for kismet? 

Purple, Pink and Yellow are girls. Black, Red, Green, Orange, Blue and White are boys.

Ali did great, we couldn't be more proud! Babies and mama are doing great. Many photos to come tomorrow :)

Up to 7!

It has to be some sort of record. She's had 7 pups in 2.5 hours!

The X-ray was done today. Vet had a tough time deciphering the cluster of puppies, we had two clusters, where it was really difficult to tell how many are in there. Suffice it to say 8+ and we'll know when they arrive :) vet guesstimated Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. We are all hoping for Christmas Eve!

Sleeping mama

Ali baking the babies :)) X-ray tomorrow...... Can't wait to hear how many and how they are looking. We are hoping for them to be uniform in size and no issues. Keep your fingers crossed :)

Day 53

Well, we are just about 6-9 days from the big day :) we are hoping she keeps them for at least 6 more days as it would be a little too early for comfort earlier than that, though I'm sure she cannot wait to get them on the outside. They are fully formed puppies and just growing at this point, and growing and rocking and rolling they are! Ali has to be fed several smaller meals a day she can't keep food down otherwise. She's also super sleepy, snuggly and having a hard time getting on the bed or sofa. She's a good sport though and doing well! 

Here is the progression from Day 32 till now. Also a photo of her snuggling with Robin on the sofa. Poor Robin and Gary came down with the flu, but they are on the mend and got it over with before the babies arrive, so hoorah for silverlinings :)

Day 47

Ali has her whelping box set up, we are just a little more than 2 weeks out from the big day. She's been nesting in the bushes, so it was time to make sure she had her place to prepare for her new arrivals. She's been very sleepy, and if it's not nailed down, she's going to eat it.... pretty hungry! Her meals have been split into several a day to help with that and also she's full of babies, it's harder for her to eat big meals (though she would be happy to give it a shot!) She still gets to go on her daily walks, though she's enjoying walking and trotting around rather than her usually full out galloping mode.

We are also preparing, getting the last few items we need to get ready. Puppy collars are made and a new scale to weigh the pups every day to ensure they are gaining weight as they should.

This is what's happening in that belly this week:

• Puppies are well-developed, and now begin attaining size in preparation for birth. 
• You may be able to see/feel the puppies' movements in your bitch's abdomen.
