Week 5 - SPRING!

Busy week this week :) Pups are getting really busy, loud and bossy! They used to think the Palace was roomy, now they daydream of the living room and kitchen.

They are having their nails dremeled, spending time in crates (with siblings) learning about the big world and all the awesome things in it! They get pretty loud when they don't think it's time to hang out in their palace and would rather hang out with the people :) they also had not one but TWO baths this week. That's what happens when you're a stinky puppy! They did well, weren't loving the "during", but enjoyed the after bath zoomies and snuggles.

Otherwise they are doing great, getting lots of love, socialization and kisses!

Week 4 - BABIES

Good evening and Happy Friday!

Boy, it was a fun… though VERY HECTIC shoot this evening.  Next week, we will NOT be shooting in the puppy palace.  These kids are very busy and really enjoy coming and going from the set. Attacking the lights, the camera, me… etc. They made a little speedway going under the lights base, these should all be agility potential pups ;) Whew!  I haven’t laughed that hard for awhile! But, lesson learned, Puppy Palace is now their domain, photo shoots will be set up elsewhere.

This litter is a really a lot of fun, and very happy babies! They are already wagging their tails and enjoy toys a lot. White boy play bowed at a toy I was holding and wagged his tail, I was surprised, then noticed everyone was doing it.  It’s a little early for tail wagging, but what a treat :) Purple decided the dragon was hers and took it back to play with.  Green boy assumes that he’s being booked into County and must remain serious, though he’s pure trouble (and super cute) I put a toy on his head and he just sat there.  With a toy on his head! What a funny kid! He and Yellow weren’t that interested in cooperating on set this week. Black was pretty sure he needed a nap, too. The other 6 were very into the props, toys and each other.  We tried the bubbles, but we need to be out of the Palace to make that more effective. We may try it again! It was a cute element.

This week pups are starting to bite.  Everything.  A lot. You, me, the lighting equipment, toys, each other… everything goes into their mouths, and CHOMP! They are teaching each other bite inhibition, so remaining with their litter mates and mom till 8 weeks is very important.  They have had some new surfaces, though that will really be introduced more next week, week 5.  Mainly, just more of everything and meeting new people. Which is where you come in! Sounds like several of you will be able to make tomorrow. I look forward to hearing how it goes and what you think of the kiddos :)

We started stacking this week, hence the yogurt faces. While this may not mean much to most of you, it’s helping all the pups get used to being handled and learning how to be baited into behaviors.  We will expand on this as they get older with some basic obedience starts.  The pups are all beautiful and while this is just training so they learn how to be handled for eventual show (for those who plan to show) and are used to it when we grade them, we were really impressed by how consistent and similar they are! We were impressed by all of them.  And boy, every single one of them dived into the yogurt without hesitation.  A litter full of foodies :)

Pups are about 50/50 on using the potty pads/potty space, which at 4 weeks old is actually quite remarkable! I watched both Red and Green toddle over to the potty area to use it.  Green missed the pad, but hey… he had the idea ;)

Photo catch up! Week 3

Catching up, got a little remiss on my blogging!

Here is from week 3

Pups are 3 weeks old now and doing great!  They’ve moved into their Puppy Palace and have really started coming into their own, playing, discovering, eating and POTTYING! :) Lots of potty going on! Our nickname for the pups are poo-pees, cause that’s pretty much all they do!

You’ll see the theme below… hopefully everyone is Seahawk fans, or at the very least can appreciate a cute puppy decked out as little Twelves :)

This week they’ve started the weaning process as teeth are starting to come in, boy do these kids love their grub, very food motivated puppies! Should help to make easy to train pups!  They’ve been getting used to weird sounds, banging pots and pans and vacuuming, barking dogs, yelling kitties, kiddos and the good ol’ TV.  They are still pretty wobbly but soon we’ll add different textures so they are used to walking on all kinds of surfaces, and they will learn about the Puppy Jungle Gym!  Robin introduced the dremel to them all tonight, to give them really pretty toe nails, it keeps them short with less pain and if maintained once a week, you’ll never hear the clicking of toe nails and it will save your wood floors. They are also learning to use the potty box with quite a bit of success already!  It’s a work in process, but all things considered I’m very impressed by the pups and their trainability!

Personalities are developing, so fun to see!  Pink is our little Boss of the herd, she’s extremely bold, smart and a titch independent. Purple and Yellow are a little more mellow, Purple being a bit more vocal and Yellow being Mellow Yellow… you can plop her down on the set and she says, “OK…” :) Green is the boy the more independent boy, lots of opinions and tells ya all about it!  Orange is also a little more on that side, then we get to Black, White and Red who are all somewhere in the middle, quite mellow and easy going.  Blue is the most easy going, though you can’t tell from these photos. He was napping while we shot everyone’s else photo… and he came alive when it was his turn at the end and he was full of sass!  Keep in mind this is just this week, next week things could change drastically, it’s fun to watch the evolution. We keep all this in mind but the official temperament test is proven to be most accurate at 7 weeks, so hang in there! What all the babies have in common is their sweetness, boy they love to curl up with us humans and snuggle, they are all curious, playful, bold and smart!

I hope you enjoy the photos, the pups took the set by storm this week and decided to really interact with us, and the lighting equipment as well as each other, soon these photos shoots will be a hectic mess! (But super fun!) The days of getting an even amount of photos of each pup each week is now officially behind us… some are more active or interested in each shoot than another.  So it will vary, usually with a different “star” each with today Blue woke up and really went to town making a very fun subject, but Black was my snuggle buddy :).  But, I promise every pup will have multiple photos, so you’ll get your puppy fix.
